GAIUS JULIUS HYGINUS was a Latin writer who flourished in Roman Spain in the C1st AD. Two extant collections of fables were attributed to him: the Fabulae (or Fables) and Astronomica (or Astronomy). The poor quality of these works lead most to believe they are either wrongly attributed to this distinguished scholar or are a later abridgement of his works composed by a C2nd grammarian.

This new text of Sophocles is the product of extensive collaboration between Sir Lloyd-Jones and N.G. Wilson, both highly respected scholars in the field. The volume includes the Greek texts and apparatus criticus for Ajax, Electra, Oedipus Tyrannus, Antigone, Trachiniae, Philoctetes, and Price: $ This is not a bad book for an advanced Latin reader, with even a few passages in Greek.
